OUR COMMUNITY LIFE

The Reedley Peace Center meets to learn together, to share our activism with each other, to provide a space where we support the efforts and actions of each member of our group. Our emphasis is on project-based efforts that surface from out of the passions and commitments of the group.

We welcome everyone to walk with us who believes in the possibility of a better world. Although we are loosely affiliated with First Mennonite Church of Reedley, we are open to people of all faiths, of any spirituality, or of no formally-professed faith.

MISSION STATEMENT

RPC is a Reedley-based organization advocating and modeling sustainable practices of peacemaking in our community and in the world.

COLLECTIVE VISION

We envision a community and a world that honors the inherent dignity and value of each person and celebrates the interconnectedness of all people. We believe that justice for anyone benefits everyone. We empower and equip each other to do the work of building a more peaceful and just society. We imagine a world where all people have what they need to thrive.

CORE VALUES

Nonviolence

We follow the way of peace, believing that love is stronger than violence and reconciliation is stronger than retaliation.

Solidarity

We choose to walk alongside our neighbors, especially those who have been excluded or oppressed. We do this work in conjunction with other justice-oriented organizations.

Connection

We believe transformation happens in community, where every person belongs and every voice matters.

Justice

We work for the restoration of people, communities, and systems so that all may flourish.

Joy

We cultivate hope and celebration, trusting that joy is both a gift and a form of resistance in the face of suffering.

Goals

Educate

Promote understanding of the issues impacting our community and our world.

Connect

Build relationships with each other, members of our community, and other justice-centered organizations.

Act

Engage in sustained actions for peace and justice in our institutions and systems
